Which walls can be fitted with expansion screws?

2026-08-14

Both cement walls and brick walls can be fitted with expansion screws. Hollow walls rely on the expansion of the outer tube to establish a large frictional force with the substrate to ensure that it will not be pulled out, and the establishment of frictional force requires the substrate to have sufficient strength. The working principle of expansion bolts and expansion pipes is different. For example, in aerated concrete block walls, due to their low strength, when the outer pipe expands, the internal stress will crush it and it cannot be used.

Attention to expansion screw construction:

1. Drilling depth: It is best to be about 5 millimeters deeper than the length of the expansion tube. As long as it is greater than or equal to the length of the expansion pipe, the length of the expansion bolt left underground is equal to or less than the length of the expansion pipe.

2. The requirement for expansion bolts on the ground is, of course, the harder the better, which also depends on the force situation of the object to be fixed. The stress strength installed in concrete (C13-15) is five times that of brick.

3. After correctly installing an M6/8/10/12 expansion bolt in concrete, the least ideal maximum static forces are 120/170/320/510 kilograms.
