What kind of expansion bolts are good for gypsum board walls

It is recommended to use gypsum board specific expansion anchors for gypsum board walls, mainly divided into Plastic Butterfly Anchors and Winged Plastic Anchors. The specific selection needs to be comprehensively judged based on the usage scenario, specifications, materials, and load-bearing requirements. The following are detailed suggestions:

1、 Select type based on usage scenario
Butterfly shaped expansion screw: designed as a double wing unfolded structure with stronger load-bearing capacity, suitable for mounting heavier items such as large decorative paintings, shelves, TV stands, etc. After unfolding, it has a large contact area with the gypsum board, which can effectively disperse pressure and reduce the risk of gypsum board cracking.
Aircraft type expansion screw: easier to install, fixed by rotating the screw to expand the tail, suitable for fixing small objects in daily life (such as photo walls, small hooks, lightweight decorations, etc.). If you pursue ultimate convenience, you can choose the tapping type aircraft expansion screw, which does not require pre drilling and can be directly tapped in, with good firmness after fastening.

2、 Select specifications based on gypsum board thickness and mounting weight
Length: Common specifications range from 25mm to 50mm. If the gypsum board is thick (such as double-layer gypsum board or walls with soundproof cotton), a length of 50mm should be selected to ensure that the screws penetrate and are fixed on the keel; Ordinary single-layer gypsum board (thickness about 9.5-12.5mm) can be used with a thickness of 25-35mm.
Diameter: ranging from M4 to M10, the larger the diameter, the stronger the load-bearing capacity. For example, when mounting items weighing less than 5kg, M4 or M5 can be selected; when mounting items weighing more than 10kg, M6 and above are recommended, and butterfly type is preferred.

3、 Confirm the load-bearing capacity
Before purchasing, it is necessary to clarify the maximum load-bearing capacity of the screws (usually in kilograms) with the merchant and reserve a safety margin. For example, when planning to mount an 8kg item, a specification with a nominal load-bearing capacity of 10kg or more should be selected. If unable to confirm, priority can be given to the combination of butterfly shaped and metal galvanized material.
